It is worth noting that the skills development has attracted young girls and women who have either dropped out of school for various reasons or those who never went to school at all. Teenage pregnancies, and early marriages is one of the major contributors to school drop outs and it is a common phenomenon in Uganda and in Northern Uganda where the SI Lira club is located. This explains why more than 90% of the trainees who heeded to our call for skills development are mainly made up of young ladies who have dropped out of school due to various reasons.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT- INTRODUCED AS A MEANS TO ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

A lot of progress has been registered as they continued to work from the time they were introduced to various skills. Women and girls worked in groups under five locations. Making table clothes was the first skills training introduced. The following paragraphs provide highlights of how work progressed and are blended with pictures of women and girls as they tirelessly worked to achieve their objectives. The women and girls were taken through a step by step process in making table clothes, bags and money purses.
